PBA Press Release – January 20, 2012
HBA Members,
I am happy to report that after considerable discussion and debate, the UCC Review and Advisory Council in an 11-5 vote yesterday, to NOT adopt any 2012 ICC codes in Pennsylvania. The Council is now charged with writing a reporting to indicate this position to the Secretary of Labor and Industry by July 1, 2012. The result of this action is that the Pennsylvania UCC remains at the 2009 codes for another three years.
In additional good news, the RAC voted to send a recommendation to the legislature further amending the UCC to extend the code adoption cycle from every three years to every six years. This is another HUGE victory for our membership!
Act 1 of 2011, which was championed by PBA and the local HBAs, made significant changes to the code adoption process. Those changes in the law were an important factor with regard to the voting process.
This action is yet another example of the strength of our Association and our membership. Your continued support of the HBA will allow for more progress in the legislature.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I hope to see you at the Upcoming General Membership Meeting and Installation of Officers on Wednesday, January 25th at Kieffer’s Appliances. We certainly have a lot to celebrate!
