Shelly’s Becomes Certified

Shelly’s has become certified by both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) for distribution and manufacture of material containing certified sustainable wood products. These third party certifications permit Shelly’s to supply FSC and SFI certified timber products,  as a part of the GREEN BUILDING process. FSC and SFI are forest certification programs mandating responsible forestry practices, and accurate delivery of these wood products to the marketplace.

While the list of products continues to grow daily, some of Shelly’s products that may carry certification are roof and floor trusses, wall panels, dimensional lumber, hardwood boards, plywood, as well as windows, doors, moulding and trim. These products are often specified on green building programs, such as USGBC’s LEED family of guidelines, and NAHB’s National Green Building Standard. These programs are voluntary, and are gaining popularity in both the commercial and residential building communities. Shelly’s has gone to great lengths to offer products and services to our customers seeking to incorporate sustainable building products and practices into their projects, and this certification gives Shelly’s customers an added advantage in the marketplace.

T.C. Feick, (LEED-AP, NAHB CGP) is  Shelly’s Green and Sustainable Building Coordinator, and Thad Brzezicki, Perkasie Division Manager and 30 year industry veteran, have led the efforts for Shelly’s Certifications.
